The order of the titles in the opening title sequence of a film is determined by order of importance. For minimal titles and maximum titles there still needs to be a clear order of relativity. After the title of the film, the lead cast is named separately and any minor characters may be placed together. From there the importance of roles is reversed and the credits work backwards to the writers and director.
